This pandemic has blanketed this earth with uncertainty, and it’s more important than ever that we stay home—the forgotten art. However, a craft I’ve learned to appreciate over my years of moving state to state, deployments, new beginnings, and events like a Friendsgiving in Afghanistan. With a little vision and intention, any place can feel like home, simplicity is key.

Back to the basics, growing up in a small West Texas town taught me a lot about taking things slow. Sitting in a neighbors living room for hours, dropping off homemade salsa, walking into a friends house unannounced, and helping them with their chores so that you can go out and play. I didn’t notice it at the time, but it’s those moments that I hold near and dear to my heart.
The world’s just spinning
A little too fast
If things don’t slow down soon
we might not last
So just for the moment, let’s be still
Let’s be still by The head and the heart
